Bell peppers

Bell peppers

Bell peppers (Capsicum annuum) are fruits that belong to the nightshade family. They are low in calories and rich in vitamin C and other antioxidants, making them an excellent addition to a healthy diet. They are related to chili peppers, tomatoes, and breadfruit, all native to Central and South America.

Bell peppers are used in salads and in cooked dishes and are high in vitamin A and vitamin C. The large furrowed fruits can be green, red, yellow, or orange. They are also rich in fiber and contain small amounts of several other nutrients.

Bell peppers come in different colors, including red, yellow, orange, green, white, chocolate, candy cane striped, and purple³. They can be eaten raw or cooked.
