Nectarine

Nectarine

Nectarine is a smooth-skinned peach of the rose family (Rosaceae) that is grown throughout the warmer temperate regions of both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. It is a genetic variant of common peaches and was most likely domesticated in China more than 4,000 years ago.

Nectarines are relatively high in fiber and low in calories. They also boast numerous nutrients, including potassium, copper, and vitamins B3 and C. Eating nectarines may help prevent anemia. Nectarine benefits stem from the fruit’s richness in vitamins and minerals. They also are due to the content of phytochemicals, natural compounds in plant foods that enhance health and help prevent disease.
